Jill Wallis, the Director of the school, is the primary course tutor.
Jill has worked as an Occupational Therapist within the public sector (both local authority and NHS) for 37 years. When she helped someone regain independence or empowerment in their life, she has seen this lead to improvements in their overall health and wellbeing, even within the most debilitating situations. As an OT she was able to help make changes to people’s situations and observe them regain independence and confidence with simple activities such as showering, or regaining social connections. These relatively small changes could often then lead to other positive changes in their wellbeing and daily lives, often in situations where medical treatment was limited to managing symptoms of chronic illness.
Jill continues to work within the NHS and also writes expert witness reports on occupational therapy and care needs for the legal profession.
At a personal level, she has always been interested in the benefits to health of factors such as exercise, being outdoors in nature, pets, social connections, and having meaningful activity and purpose. The mind-body connection has always instinctively made sense to her.
Western medicine can be life-saving but is overwhelmed by demand and expectation. In Jill’s experience, it is often limited in what it can do for chronic and long-term conditions.
Jill believes that we no longer want or need to feel like a passenger in the management of our own health. In the therapies she uses the client is central to their own journey towards health and wellbeing.
Jill’s own experience of Bio-Energy healing followed loss and bereavement and resulted in a powerful physical reaction which she describes as a ‘re-boot,’ resulting in increased mental and physical energy, positivity, a return to what she felt was her core self and a developing curiosity about something very different to counselling or psychotherapy.
Jill trained with Marjorie Cooper, who has worked as a Bio-Energy healer and has been teaching practitioners the Michael D’Alton Bio-Energy healing method since 2001. Jill gained her Diploma in 2018 from the School of Bio-Energy Healing Scotland and then completed the Teacher Training Course in 2022.
Marjorie and John Cooper developed the Silent Counselling model, which expanded dramatically in its use in recent times. Jill completed her training in 2020 and her Teacher Training Course in 2021.
Jill runs her own successful Bio-Energy Healing practice, Jill Wallis Therapies.
